Pieksämäen Nukkekoti (”Pieksämäki Doll’s House) is a beautiful old house which has served as a house of culture for children since the 1980s. The house was built in the 1920s and 30s and its garden invites children to various activities.
The house has a theatre, a café and toilets on the ground floor and a play area, costumes and other equipment for role play as well as three attics for playing upstairs.
The pirate captain Joonas Aurinko (”Joonas Sun”) has spent the past ten or more summers in Nukkekoti. Apart from Joonas you can meet other members of his crew in the house e.g. the troubadour Tim-Jami, the pirot princess Persilja (”Parsley”) and Aunt Eulalia.
During the summer season there are various workshops, performances and concerts at Nukkekoti.
